Barbie Collections

It’s estimated that over 7,000 people collect Barbies as a hobby. The special edition Barbies and other interesting releases are especially popular with collectors, but if you want to create your own Barbie collection, there is no reason to gather only the boxed editions.

Your Own Taste
There are so many Barbie dolls and Barbie games out there that you should collect what ever suits your own taste. If you like the sporty Barbies, collect those. Or maybe you prefer the Barbie dolls that are dressed in the beautiful gowns. You can add to that sort of collection with the Barbies created as various characters and princesses.

Play and Admire
Most die-hard collectors will simply put their Barbies on display shelves still in the original packaging. While that’s great for making the most money on the dolls, I’m a big fan of playing with a good collection.

The best part of Barbie games is trying on all the different outfits, so don’t let the collection mentality go to your head. Play with your Barbie and admire them. The dolls might not be worth as much money, but they’re worth more to you and that’s what matters most.

Putting Barbie Away

There comes a time in every young girl’s life when Barbie and her collection of mansions, dream houses, Corvettes, Jeeps, and boyfriends must be removed from the center of your room. Perhaps your friends have begun to ask about your giant Barbie collection or you’ve invited boys over and would be embarrassed to show off your Barbie games. Put them away if you must, but don’t be too glum – Barbie is always around when you need her.

Of course you can pull Barbie back out from under the bed any time you want, or you can pop in one of your secret stash of Barbie videos, but the best way to hang out with Barbie these days is online. Barbie games online are great for dressing up Barbie and creating all new stories.

These dress-up games let you design outfits for Barbie from hundreds of wardrobe selections. Not only that, but the outfits are updated frequently and new Barbie games pop up every time you turn around. There is no shortage of designs or accessories when you play online, and should company come over there is no need to hide your new Barbies.

In fact, once they see the Barbie games on your computer most of your friends will probably want to take a turn dressing up their own Barbies online – why not? It’s a blast!

Barbie – Friend or Foe?

Why is it that we turn on Barbie? Once our beloved companion, our Barbie games sometimes turn to a darker side. For years we enjoyed brushing Barbie’s long blonde hair – until one day we grab the scissors and hack it all off. After all, why wouldn’t a fashionista want a Mohawk?

Some scientists ran out of important things to study and actually researched why girls turn on Barbie. They decided that torturing Barbie, cutting her hair, scorning her and doing all those other things we do in a weak moment are actually a rite of passage. Barbie apparently represents idealism and childhood, and we can’t grow up until we take away some of the innocence.

Whatever.

That may be true for some, but I personally just think that after awhile all that blonde perfection gets a bit annoying. Everyone likes to try out a new look, so why shouldn’t Barbie? Surely she wouldn’t mind a short fashionable ‘do for the summer, and she’s over eighteen, so why not opt for a pretty tattoo?

I like to think that these kinds of Barbie games are more about Barbie growing up than me growing up. After all, who wants to look the same for forty years?
