Barbie Games for All Ages

Barbie games are now being advertised to younger girls – usually between 3 and 8, but that doesn’t mean the Barbie games are over for those of us who still love fashion and have a soft spot for Barbies. For many, it seems the jump between playing with Barbies and starting a collection is close to twenty years. But that’s not necessarily the case.

If you have a love for Barbie games, don’t let your age or anything else get in the way of playing he games you love so much.

Buy the Barbies You Love
You’ll need to buy the Barbies you actually enjoy playing with to make this a successful notion. Barbie is much more than the blonde haired bombshell we know and love. Opt for the dolls that seem to speak to you on some level – like the dolls dressed up like Disney characters or ones that are dressed for special occasions. Collector’s editions might also be a great choice for those looking for special Barbies – even if you’re not interested in starting a collection yet.

Enjoy!
Once you have your Barbies, you can enjoy them any way you like. You can play with them every afternoon after school or arrange them around your desk to keep you amused while you play on the computer or do homework. Whatever you do, enjoy!

Are You Into Barbie Games?

If you have a Barbie, you’re likely already into Barbie games, but if you haven’t yet tried the online versions of Barbie games, you’re missing out on a terrific opportunity. Barbie games online are a great way to play with fashion and try out new looks both for your Barbies and for you.

There are thousands of different Barbie games online and when you sit down to play one of the games, you’ll soon realize that playing Barbie games online gives you more opportunity to create new looks than most of your actual Barbie dolls and their outfits. With a traditional Barbie doll, you’ve likely built up a collection of dolls and clothing over the years, but in order to play with your Barbies you have to actually sit down and go through the effort of taking the clothes on and off.

With online Barbie games, you can simply point and click at different outfits and accessories to use those items on the doll. The result is faster and more varied fashion styles than you can create with actual clothing and dolls.

The New Old Barbie Games

I was shopping the other day for toys, and I came across a discovery that I was literally thrilled about. In honor of Barbie’s 50th anniversary, Mattel has released the old Barbies in special collector’s editions.

The Classic Barbie
The first new old Barbie I found was the classic Barbie in her red and white swimsuit. This was the Barbie that took the world by storm and she’s still wearing the same swim costume and has her hair done in the same high ponytail with bangs.

The First Malibu Barbie
Malibu Barbie was introduced to the world in the seventies, judging by the date on the box. Having never even seen a picture of the first Malibu Barbie games, I was impressed. Malibu Barbie had a much deeper tan than the original Barbie and her swimsuit was much more interesting – a high cut orange number if I remember correctly. Hair was long and flowing and she looked very much like a carefree California girl.

The Bubble Cut Barbie
With her distinctive dark hairstyle, the bubble cut Barbie showed us everything about the early 1960s. Her fur trimmed gown especially is fun – it makes me feel very glamorous, in fact.

How To Play Barbie Games

Barbie games are fun and easy to play. To play Barbie games, you need only a computer with internet access and a bit of creativity.

1. Find a dress up game website that offers Barbie games. This should be simple as there are literally thousands, if not millions of games to dress up Barbie online.

2. Select the game you like. You’ll likely have plenty of choices on each site, so pick the game you like – usually the doll and sometimes the clothing options change as you select different games.

3. Pick the right hair and make-up. You’ll usually have the chance to select your doll some cute hair and make-up. Go ahead and be daring – try and updo or give Barbie something other than platinum locks.

4. Pull together some outfits. Barbie needs to look her best, and that is very much your job. Help her find something great to wear by trying out different combinations of shirts and tops. Don’t forget to add in some terrific accessories and shoes to really pull everything together.

5. Save your work. You never know when you might need to use your saved Barbie game for a project or as a avatar. Save it as an image file and then start another one!

My Favorite Gift: Barbie Games

I’m not sure why, but I seem to be in line for any number of presents for girls every year, and no matter how old a girl is, I buy her a Barbie doll. Fortunately, Barbie games are very accommodating and I can find a Barbie that appeals to just about anyone – especially with the cross marketing with Disney shows.

Younger girls get Barbie games that are dressed like princesses or just normal people with great clothes and tiny shoes. These are a universal hit because no girl every really outgrows wanting to be a princess, and at four or five years of age the urge to be a princess is incredibly strong.

Older girls will enjoy a more elaborate Barbie game such as the special edition Barbies, but my absolute favorite choice for these girls are the Barbies shaped like their favorite characters from various shows. How can you not love a Camp Rock or High School Musical Barbie doll? Some of them even come with songs or microphones!

Even my adult friends have been known to receive a Barbie. Special edition and annual productions of Barbies are terrific collector’s items and they are also a nice way to make someone smile. After all, virtually every little girl had a Barbie and we still love them today.

I’m Not Too Old for Barbie Games

If you think you’re too old for Barbie games, you probably are. I on the other hand will never too old for Barbie games and here’s why:

I have an imagination. I’m convinced that adults lose their imagination as they grow older. People who have no imagination don’t understand how you can look at a fashion doll and see hours of fun and adventure across the globe. I do. Those of us with imagination can look at Barbie dolls and create a magical, make believe world on the living room floor or just in our minds. Of course, the internet has been very accommodating and has provided a magical make-believe world for us.

I love my past. I was never in a huge hurry to grow up the way others have been throughout my years. Since I wasn’t anxious to pack away childish things, I still quite enjoy them. The peace and mindlessness of playing Barbie games is great for anyone, but those who suffer from huge bouts of stress and anxiety should definitely try it out – playing games is very relaxing.

Barbie Games and Babysitting

If you’re wrestled into babysitting, you do have a secret weapon at your disposal. To be sincere and such, you should always ask your young charge’s parents if it is okay to take their child online to show her the wide world of Barbie games, but most parents already have Barbies underfoot, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Once you have permission, take care of all the other things you might need to do like feeding children their dinner and clearing up a bit. Then get everyone a sippy cup and sit down at the computer. Older children will have no trouble picking up how to make the Barbie games work. They will learn in a matter of minutes how to make different outfits by mixing and matching clothing.

Your charges might also like the other Barbie games available online besides the dress up games. Be careful that you keep things simple enough for the younger ones to play, too, but otherwise you’ll be the hit of the evening for introducing the children to online Barbie games. Just be sure to leave a note with the URL of at least one game for the parents. They might be bombarded with requests for more games the next morning.

Teaching Your Kid Sister Barbie Games

If your younger sister loves to do everything you love to do, why not introduce her to the wonders of Barbie games? After all you love them, so it’s a rather safe bet that she will, too. Plus, playing Barbie games is a nice way to spend time together without her being so annoying as she tries to do what you’re doing with your friends or getting into your things.

To play Barbie games with your sister, make her a nice collection of your favorite websites that contain Barbie dress up games. There are so many different kinds of Barbie games online that you’ll have quite a list by the time you’re done. The list can be bookmarked on the computer or just on a document you save on the desktop. It’s up to you and how well your sister can navigate the computer.

Once the sites are bookmarked, sit down next to your sister for thirty minutes or so and show her how the big girls play Barbie games. Offer her ideas about outfits and such. Then you can just sit back and watch her exercise her own creative muscle. Who knows – you might even lean a little something from watching her play!
