Barbie is old. There is no way of getting around it. Since the 1950s, Barbie has been a household fixture for young girls, and even with the slightly wider waist and updated wardrobe, she’s old school. Of course like many old things, Barbie just gets better with age.
Some people only drink “aged” wines or eat “aged” cheeses. Other prefer to drive “classic” cars or collect “classic” toys. Well, Barbie is classically updated and defies description. Barbie games are unique in many ways, but the most obvious is that she grows older but never ages.
Like all of us, Barbie’s wardrobe changes over time as she needs newer versions of clothing and more updated shoes, but her hairstyle is so classic it’s lasted forty, almost fifty years. Her cars get updated, but she sticks with the stiletto heels that have always been so fashionable.
No matter what era your Barbie games hail from, you can always count on having a good time documenting fashions of the day.
