3 Greatest Things About Barbie Games

I love Barbie games. I have always loved them and like to think that I always will. Of course, not all Barbie games are created equally. Some of the games are much more intense than others and there is a huge variety of ways to play the games. Here are a few of my favorites.

Barbie Games and Dress Up – I love to sit down on the computer and dress up the Barbie dolls. Being able to put their little clothes on without having to pull them on and off makes things so much easier on me.

Barbie Games and Action – There are a few action Barbie games online, and I love these little Flash games. I like to play the games where Barbie explores or drives online as well.

Barbie Games and Dolls – Best of all, I love the Barbie dolls. Fifty years ago, the world was introduced to Barbies and I don’t think anything has impacted us as much as Barbies have in respect to toys. Best of all, not much has changed on the Barbies making them just as fun to play with today as they were a generation ago.

Barbie Games And Accessories

The best part about Barbie games are the sheer number of fun accessories you can have for the games. I went to the store with the intent of finding various Barbie games for a niece and discovered just how many options there are for digging into the Barbie dolls and accessories. A few of my personal favorites are wrapped under the tree waiting for that side of the family to get together for the holidays.

Barbie Cars – I think Barbie invented the concept of the car for a fashion doll, and she seems to always do it right. I especially love the Volkswagen car that you can put Barbie in. I’m also a fan of the purple convertible just because it looks like so much fun to drive.

Barbie Houses – I remember having a Barbie house in my youth, and if anything, the Barbie houses have gotten even better as the years have gone by. The best Barbie houses now have rooms full of furniture to put inside. I don’t recall having furniture for my Barbie Dream house, but that might just be something that was missing on my end of the deal.

Barbie Games and Winter

When it’s cold outside, my Barbie games seem to be played much more. Cold weather keeps me inside, although I do enjoy being outside as much as I can stand it. Barbie dolls pick up the slack for me, however, when I come in with pink cheeks and watering eyes. Pulling out Barbie games is a great way to spend a wet winter day – and if you’re lucky enough to have the holiday Barbie dolls, you can spend hours playing with those gorgeous dresses and other collectibles.

Another option is to settle down on the computer to play Barbie games on the computer. Online Barbie games have much more flexibility than their offline counterparts. When you play Barbie games online, you’re able to select a Barbie doll to use and then dress her accordingly. Pull clothing together for Barbie online and if you change your mind, simply move it off of the screen and pick something else. There is no wrestling to put the tiny clothing on the dolls – it’s a drag and drop kind of thing.

Christmas Barbie Games

Every Christmas, I look to see the newest holiday Barbie. I’m not a collector, but I’m thinking about starting just to collect the beautiful dolls that they present every year. The Barbie games available for the Christmas season are varied and fun, with games online and off. The online Barbie games let you dress Barbie for all sorts of special Christmas events. From parties and sleigh rides to Christmas morning under the tree, you get to choose the sorts of things that Barbie wears for all the special events. Dress her for one and then start again and get her dressed for the next.

Offline, there are dozens of new Barbie dolls and styles that are released around this time of year as we prepare for the holidays. Choosing a new Barbie doll for a friend or helping pick one out in the store that you’d like to have this holiday season is a fun way to shop, knowing that you’ll be getting exactly what you want and enjoying every moment of playing with the new doll on Christmas morning.

Barbie Games and Growing Up

I hate the idea of growing up. Growing up seems to say I must move away from childish things, and those, of course, include my Barbie games collection. Personally I love Barbie. I always have. Barbie games were a lot of fun in my youth and they were a great bonding experience between my sisters and I. But as we grew up, Barbie left her dream house less and less and the Barbie Corvette of old was a bit neglected.

But growing up doesn’t mean I can’t play Barbie games at all. It just means I don’t get to spend hours on the floor every day of summer dress and undressing plastic dolls. Instead, I’ve moved on to the grown-up version of playing Barbie games – collecting them.

For the most part, I leave my collected Barbie games in the box to keep them pretty and perfect, but sometimes I’ll open a box and sit the Barbies along the special shelf over my desk. It might seem childish to the die-hards out there, but having a row of eternally happy fashionistas is simply fun and that brings a bit of joy to life.

Barbie Games Reach Out

I noticed recently that the Barbie games seem to be reaching out from their normal position of blonde perfection. There are new series of dolls that have darker skin types and a bit more personality. Of course, I love Barbie games and even if it is stereotypical and cheesy, I find myself picturing myself twirling in those Barbie ball gowns from time to time.

After all, Barbie was one of the first and definitely the most lasting cultural icon. Little girls want to look like Barbie, they want to dress like Barbie and they want to be Barbie. Personally I remember wanting Barbie’s car and horse, but I digress.

The Barbie games of our youth reflected society’s position on beauty for the most part. I, for one, am thrilled to see that society is reaching out to embrace alternative forms of beauty and this level of comfort is evident through the wider and more varied selection of Barbie games. If I could, I’d buy a Barbie of every color, just for posterity.

The New Ethnic Barbie Games

Barbie has released a new black Barbie game. The African-American Barbie dolls have three different versions all with different skin tones. There are light skinned Barbie games and dark skinned Barbie games and one in between. While many African Americans are satisfied with the new dolls and even excited that they are present on the market, there are still some concerns about the new Barbies. In particular, the black Barbie games still have long straight hair.

While there are some African Americans who have long straight hair, the complaint has been that the images presented by the new black Barbies is one of a regular Barbie with darker skin tone and hair. The African-American community would be more satisfied if the dolls had more authentic hair with perhaps braids, shorter styles or an Afro. But overall, it’s definitely a positive thing that the Barbies games are moving into more ethnic directions. I’m glad that the dolls are looking more like true ethnic beauties. Now, if only Barbie would embrace the other cultures present in our societies to be inclusive of everyone.
